Along with the women’s 4x100-metres relay Canadian record in the Bahamas, three additional Canadian records, and a number of top performances, were turned in over the weekend by Canadian athletes.
Shawn Barber’s record breaking season continued in Austin, Texas. This time he upped the Canadian pole vault record to 5.91-metres.

At the Payton Jordan Invitational in Palo Alto, California, Natasha Wodak and Justyn Knight each broke Canadian records in distance events. Wodak’s time of 31:41.58 in the 10,000-metres bettered the record of Courtney Babcock and earned her the 2015 IAAF World Championships and 2016 Olympic Games qualification standards. Justyn Knight erased the oldest junior men’s mark from the Canadian record books. Taking almost nine seconds off the previous record, Knight crossed the finish line of the 5000-metres in 13:34.86. Bruce Kidd’s junior record of 13:43.80 had stood since 1962.
In Los Angeles, Andre De Grasse ran a wind-legal 10.04 to take home the victory in the USC-UCLA dual meet. Along with his 100-metres dash victory, De Grasse was second in the 200-metres (20.74) and ran legs on the winning 4x100 and 4x400-metres relay teams.
At the Northeast Conference Championships, Brendon Rodney collected four titles including a conference record of 20.32 in winning the 200-metres.
