Boulay, Filosa, Palmer and Zahabi named male team captains for Bruny Surin Celebrity 4x50m relay

Étienne Boulay, Jeremy Filosa, Hank Palmer and Firas Zahabi have been named team captains by Bruny Surin for the 2016 Celebrity 4x50m relay Challenge taking part in Montreal as part of the 2016 Hershey Canadian Indoor Championships. Another announcement will be made shortly naming the team captains for the women’s heat of the celebrity event.

The four captains will now work their network of contacts to put together their relay entries for the February 20 race. 

Étienne Boulay is a 3-time Grey Cup Champion and the reigning champ of the annual Bruny Surin Celebrity Challenge. Boulay won the 2015 edition, a 60-metres sprint, in a time of 7.42 ahead of competition that included Olympic gold medallist Alexandre Bilodeau, boxer Lucian Bute and retired NHL tough guy Georges Laraque.

Jeremy Filosa is a Montreal radio and television personality who covers the Montreal Canadiens and Impact. Filosa crossed the line in fourth position last year in the Celebrity Sprint in 8.47.

Hank Palmer is a retired national team athlete, he competed at the 2008 Olympic Games in the 4x100-metres relay. Palmer finished fourth at the 2004 World Junior Championships in the 100-metres. He owns a personal best of 10.22 in the 100-metres. His 60-metres personal best stands at 6.67.

Firas Zahabi is the founder and Head Coach of TriStar Gym. Tristar Gym counts numerous current and past mixed martial arts greats including George St-Pierre, Rory MacDonald, Kenny Florian and David Loiseau. 

The Bruny Surin Celebrity 4x50m relay Challenge is a joint venture between Athletics Canada and the Bruny Surin Foundation. The event takes place February 20 in conjunction with the international invitational component of the 2016 Hershey Canadian Indoor Championships in Montreal.

The format for the 2016 Bruny Surin Celebrity Challenge is a 4x50-metres relay, with both men’s and women’s races. The men’s and women’s winning teams will win $1,000 to the charity of their choice.

The 2016 Hershey Canadian Indoor Championships are a national championship for youth and junior aged-athletes, also featuring international and Canadian stars in open competition and select invitational events.
