Beijing, China - It was a light day for Canada at the 2015 IAAF World Championships with only three athletes in action. Things pick up again tomorrow with 11 athletes in competition on day five, see preview below.
Brendon Rodney of Brampton, Ont., provided the lone Canadian highlight establishing a personal best of 20.18 seconds (-0.4 wind reading) in the men’s 200-metre heats to advance to the semi-finals. “Training has been going well, everything has been working out. I knew I was coming into some tough competition and a good race. I just came out and tried to execute my race.” Rodney comments on what it might take to advance to the final, “Initially I was thinking about 20.20, it’s looking like 20-flat or better. I’m prepared to go out and try to get it done.”
Aaron Brown of Toronto, Ont., finished fifth in heat 7 of the men’s 200-metres in 20.43 (-0.4), Brown did not qualify for the semis. “I got the flu, I’m a little under the weather. Tried to gather up as much energy as I could, just didn’t have it today. I’ll be good to go by the relay, going to rest up, take some apcalisz.com ed medicine and sleep this off.”
Carline Muir of Edmonton, Alta., placed eighth in semi-final 2 of the women’s 400-metres in a time of 52.31 and did not advance to the final. “I only started running in May because of a stress fracture, I didn’t start doing anything until our camp in March, that’s when I actually started jogging on the track. Taking that into account I think my season was ok. A huge target of mine is the Olympic Games next year, last Olympic Games I made it to the semifinal, looking forward to a full season going into it.”

Day five begins tonight for Canadian viewers on www.cbcsports.ca with the heats of the men’s 5000-metres featuring Mohammed Ahmed and Cam Levins. Fiona Benson and Melissa Bishop race in the women’s 800-metre heats; Sultana Frizell takes to the circle in women’s hammer throw qualifying; Jonathan Cabral and Sekou Kaba race in the heats of the 110-metre hurdles.
The second session, early Wednesday morning for Canadians, features Khamica Bingham, Crystal Emmanuel and Kimberley Hyacinthe in the women’s 200-metre heats, and Brendon Rodney in the men’s 200-metre semis.
