Race information
If you’re a competitive runner looking for a bigger challenge, you’re invited to join Canada’s top elites and master runners at the Canadian 5K Road Race Championship.
The 5K event will take place on Sunday, Sept. 9, at 9 a.m. and will be immediately followed by the 9th annual B&O Yorkville Run.
The Canadian 5K Road Race Championship is sanctioned by Athletics Canada and Canadian Masters Athletics.
Registration fee:
$50 + HST – includes bib, timing chip and a New Balance singlet ($35 value)
*Registration fee will increase to $65 + HST on Aug. 15
Qualifying standards
To qualify for the Championship race, you must provide race results from 2016-2018 that meet the following entry standards:

Race Day Details
Race day itinerary
9 a.m. Canadian 5K Road Race Championship commences
9:20 a.m. Canadian 5K Road Race Championship concludes
9:30 a.m. Warm-up and stretch
9:45 a.m. B&O Yorkville Run commences
10:45 a.m. Course closes and awards ceremony commences, running prizes distributed (you must be there in person to claim your prize)
A VIP reception will serve hors d’oeuvres from local restaurants from 10-11 a.m.
Complimentary baggage check will be available at the race site.

This year we are offering over $16,000 in cash prizes for the fastest runners:
1st place: $2,500
2nd place: $1,500
3rd place: $1,000
4th place: $500
5th place: $300
Canadian 5K land record: $2,500
*To be eligible for Championship awards, including prize money, athletes must have Canadian citizenship and a current Athletics Canada membership.
Awards
- Top 3 male and female overall will be awarded medals by Athletics Canada
- Top 3 male and female Masters in each age group will be awarded medals by the CMA (ages 35-39, 40-44, 45-49, 50-54, 55-59, 60-64, 65-69, 70+)
- Top 3 male and female high school athletes will be awarded prizes (ages 14-18)
