National Senior Qualifying / National Senior Championships Advancements

CANCELED QUALIFYING SECTIONS

TRACK EVENTS*

Based on final entry numbers, the qualifying rounds in the following track events have been canceled and all athletes will advance straight to the semi-finals:

Junior Women – 100m, 100mH, 400mH
Junior Men – 110mH, 400mH
Senior Women – 400m, 100mH, 400mH
Senior Men – 110mH, 400mH

*Events 3000m and longer will be run as straight finals. There will be 1 section for each of these events except for the Senior Men’s 5000m which will be run as 2 timed finals. All athletes who have achieved the qualifying standard will be placed in the fast section and the sections will be run slow to fast.

FIELD EVENTS

Based on final entry numbers, the qualifying rounds in the following field events have been canceled and all athletes will advance straight to finals:

Junior Women – High Jump, Shot Put, Javelin
Junior Men – Pole Vault, Triple Jump, Shot Put, Hammer, Javelin
Senior Women – High Jump, Long Jump, Triple Jump, Discus, Javelin
Senior Men – High Jump, Pole Vault, Shot Put, Discus, Hammer, Javelin

Olympic Team Nomination

July 11 at 11 a.m. in Edmonton, Athletics Canada, along with the Canadian Olympic Committee will unveil the Rio 2016 Olympic Games team. More details to come.

The official kick off press conference for the Canadian Track & Field Championships / Olympic and Paralympic Games Selection Trials takes place at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday July 6 at Foote Field.

The event will feature a number of Olympic and Paralympic aspiring team members. More details
