Athletics Canada names 2011 World Youth Team

Monday, June 27, 2011

OTTAWA - Athletics Canada named a contingent of 42 athletes today that will travel to Lille, France for the World Youth Championships.   The World Youth Championships are an excellent opportunity to discover the athletics superstars of tomorrow.

Head coach Daniel St-Hilaire believes this may be the best Canadian World Youths team ever assembled. “I have been lucky having had the chance and honour to coach some superb Canadian teams at various international meets over the years.  In my opinion this team is the best that has ever been assembled to represent Canada at the World Youth Championships.” He adds, “In 2009 in Bressanone, Italy 3 Canadians finished on the podium.  You can be certain that we’ll try to surpass this mark in France.”
