The 2005 Rolling Rampage to Feature $35,000 in Prize Money

OTTAWA - The Canadian Foundation for Physically Disabled Persons, in cooperation with the Canadian Paralympic Committee and the Rotary Club of Toronto - Don Valley, presents the third annual Rolling Rampage. The 10 kilometre wheelchair road race will take place in Toronto, Ontario on Saturday June 18.

This year, athletes will roll through 10 kilometres of beautiful scenery in Queen’s Park. The 2005 event will mark the first time that a sizeable prize purse will be awarded as a total of $35,000 will be handed out to the top finishers in four different categories. They are: the men’s open, women's open, quad open for both men and women and a junior category for athletes 19 years of age or younger. The junior prize purse consists of a total of $5000 distributed equally to the top four finishers in both the men’s and women’s categories. The breakdown is as follows: first place - $1000, second place - $750, third place - $500 and fourth place $250.

The cost of registration is $25.00. The rampage marks the opening leg of the America Series of wheelchair racing.

The series features eight events, ranging from sprints to long-distance road races and is held over a two-week span in four different cities.

The total prize money for the series is over $100,000 and it attracts the best wheelchair track athletes in the world.

This is the first year the Rolling Rampage will be a part of the America series.
