It was bumpy in the early stages of the men’s T11 1500-metre final, but Jason Dunkerley of Hamilton, Ont., and guide Jérémie Venne picked their way through the field methodically. At the front with a lap to go, the duo closed hard over the final metres to secure a silver medal finish. Along with landing them on the podium, Dunkerley’s time of 4:13.67 was a season’s best.

Coming into the semi-final’s of the men’s T38 100-metres, Kyle Whitehouse of St. Catherines, Ont., had the tenth fastest time of 2017 with only eight athletes advancing to the final. Whitehouse was up for the challenge and ran a season’s best of 11.72 to advance to the final. He went on to finish eighth in the final.

In the men’s T34 200-metre, Austin Smeenk of Oakville, Ont., placed fifth with a time of 28.57. The 20 year-old has a bright future and should be a podium threat in the years to come.
