Hershey Outdoor Regional Youth Series details announced

Today Athletics Canada announced details of the 2015 Hershey Outdoor Regional Youth Series, a new initiative aimed at increasing accessibility and exposure of the sport of athletics. The Hershey Outdoor Regional Youth Series is part of Hershey’s multi-year investment in youth athletics, in addition to the Hershey Run Jump Throw Wheel grassroots program and the Hershey Canadian Indoor Championships.

Prairies Region – Hosted by Calgary Track Council
Calgary, Alberta
June 28 – 29

Central Region – Hosted by Club d’Athlétisme Cirrus
Gatineau, Quebec
July 4 – 5 

Atlantic Region – Hosted by Athletics PEI
Charlottetown, Prince Edward Island
July 25 – 26

West Region - Hosted by Ocean Athletics
Surrey, British-Columbia
July 25 – 26

The 2015 Hershey Outdoor Youth Series is comprised of four regional all-comers competitions for midget (14-15) and youth (16-17) aged athletes. Athletics Canada’s objective is to grow the Regional Series to six events by 2018. The events will rotate within each region to maximize participation and awareness of the sport.

In partnership with Hershey, Athletics Canada provides the following for each Regional event:

  • 1st, 2nd and 3rd place medal for all events
  • Athlete competition bibs
  • On-line registration platform
  • Event signage
  • Apparel for officials, volunteers and the organizing committee
  • $5,000 contribution to host provincial branch to help support the event
