Lanni Marchant of London, Ont., and Eric Gillis of Guelph, Ont., were Canada’s top finishers at the 2017 NACAC 10K Road Race Cup. Held on Feb. 26, the regional competition took place in conjunction with the World’s Best 10K, which is an IAAF Gold Label event.
Marchant was the women’s individual runner-up completing the course in a time of 33:50. Canada’s other team scorer, Gillis, was third amongst the NACAC men’s field running the 10K circuit in 30:06. Rachel Cliff of Vancouver and Lucas Bruchet of White Rock, B.C., did not figure into the team scoring, but competed well placing third (34:03) and fourth (30:41) in their respective categories.
Team USA took both individual wins and the team title after posting the fastest combined time.
