Memorandum: Decision to reinstate RUSADA

To: Sir Craig Reedie, WADA Chairman

CC: Lord Sebastian Coe, IAAF President; Mr. Andrew Parsons, IPC President; Mr. Thomas Bach, IOC President

Re: Decision to reinstate RUSADA

Athletics Canada is extremely disappointed in the World Anti-Doping Agency’s decision to reinstate the Russian Anti-Doping Agency. The path to reinstatement was clear and has not yet been completed, therefore, it is difficult for us to understand the rationale behind this decision. This is unfair and unjust to drug-free athletes who compete in our and other sports and clearly contrary to their wishes.

We support and applaud the leadership role our athletes have shown in standing firm against the reinstatement of RUSADA. We strongly believe in clean sport and will continue to fight for a level playing field for our athletes and our sport.

By making this decision you erode the trust placed in you by our athletes as stewards of clean sport. On behalf athletes across Canada and our entire organization, we express our sincere displeasure.

Sincerely,

Rob Guy, Chief Executive Officer
Athletics Canada
