Lanni Marchant is the Canadian record holder for the women’s marathon. On October 20, 2013, Marchant set the Canadian women's marathon record at the Scotiabank Toronto Waterfront Marathon, running it in exactly 2:28:00.

Marchant has represented Canada at the Chiba Ekiden relays (2008, 2010, 2011, 2012), at the 2013 World Championships in the marathon event, and at the 2014 Commonwealth Games in Glasgow, Scotland, in the marathon event.

In 2015, Marchant found success at the 10,000m distance. Marchant went under the previous Canadian record and earned the Olympic standard running 31:46.94 at the Payton Jordan Invitational. Along with earning a bronze medal at the 2015 Pan Am Games, Marchant placed 18th in the 10,000m at the 2015 IAAF World Championships.
