Pamela Le Jean

Birthdate : 12 November 1984

Birthplace : Canada

Hometown : Cape Breton

Language : English

Provincial affiliation : Athletics Nova Scotia

Club : Valley Athletics

Coach : Ueli Albert

Event specialization : Throws

Pam Le Jean has emerged as one of Canada’s best throwers in para-athletics over the past couple of years, and 2015 was her breakthrough season despite some nagging injuries. At the Toronto 2015 Parapan American Games, she collected gold in the shotput and bronze in the javelin. A few weeks later at the 2015 IPC World Championships, she notched a silver in the shotput.

Two years earlier at the 2013 worlds in Lyon, LeJean emerged on the international scene in spectacular fashion with bronze in shotput and fifth in javelin.

LeJean had previously played wheelchair basketball, but was forced to stop due to recurring tendinitis in her shoulders. She took up para-athletics after the sport was suggested to her by her strength coach. LeJean began para-athletics in 2013 at the Valley Athletics Academy in Kentville, N.S.
