Newman sets Canadian Record; Steacy and Suttie hit Olympic standards

Canadian athletes performed very well this weekend punctuated by a Canadian Record of 4.60m in the women's pole vault by Alysha Newman. In throwing events, Heather Steacy surpassed the Olympic standard in the women's hammer throw (72.09m) and Taryn Suttie went over the Olympic standard in the shot put (17.88m).

Andre De Grasse opened his season in the 200-metres with a win in 20.23.  

Sage Watson set a World Lead in the 400-metre hurdles with a time of 55.45.
