World Record attempt at Hershey Canadian Indoor Championships

Athletics Canada is excited to announce that a World Record attempt in the indoor 600-metres will take place in Montreal, Quebec as part of the Hershey Canadian Indoor Championships at Complexe Sportif Claude-Robillard.

The current indoor 600-metres World Record stands at 1:15.12 set in by Nico Motchebon of Germany in 1999. The race will take place on Saturday February 21. Admission to the event is free, we encourage everyone to come out and cheer these athletes on as they race against the clock to make history.

Dai Greene – United Kingdom

Green won gold at the 2011 World Championships and at the 2010 Commonwealth Games in the 400-metre hurdles. He’s also won gold at the 2010 European Championships, the 2011 European Team Championships and in the 2010 Continental Cup. Green was selected as captain for Team Great Britain at the 2012 Olympic Games.

Luguelin Santos – Dominican Republic

Santos is the silver medallist in the 400-metres from the 2012 Olympic Games. He won bronze at the 2013 World Championships and double-silver at the 2011 Pan American Games.

Eroll Nolan – Jamaica

Nolan won bronze at the 2014 World Indoor Championships and gold and bronze at the 2010 World Junior Championships held in Moncton, N.B.

Rafith Rodriguez – Columbia

Rodriguez has competed at the World Junior Championships (2008), the World Championships (2011 & 2013), the Pan American Games (2011), the World Indoor Championships (2012) and the Olympic Games (2012).

One place on the start list is reserved for the top ranked CIS athlete in the 600m as of Monday February 16. The athlete will be flown in from anywhere in Canada to take part in this exciting event.
