Supporting the Athletics Canada Foundation

Athletics Canada Foundation

The Athletics Canada Foundation (ACF) supports athleticism from playground to podium. ACF supports athletes at all stages of their career by driving growth in participation; enabling improved athletic performance; and providing a positive experience for all in athletics.

But we can’t do it alone.

We need your help in continuing our commitment to:

  • Delivering a positive experience through sport while developing physical literacy
  • Providing opportunities for participants to remain active and competitive through all stages of life
  • Systematically developing world class athletes who achieve podium success internationally

WHAT WE DO

ACF supports athletics in our country. We do this in collaboration with clubs across Canada, with a focus on three areas:

  1. Getting Canadians Active
  2. Keeping Canadians Active
  3. Supporting Excellence

 Getting Canadians Active

We are committed to providing a positive experience through sport, which develops physical literacy and a love of athletics by introducing as many children (6 to 12 years of age) to the sport as possible. Our goal by 2020 is to expose 350,000 children annually to athletics in Canada through various Intro to Athletics programs. These programs familiarize children with the basic skills of running, jumping, throwing and wheeling in a fun and safe environment and can be easily included to any class curriculum.

Keeping Canadians Active

Once we have you moving, we want to ensure that you don’t stop, which is why providing opportunities for participants to remain active and competitive through all stages of life is a major goal of the foundation. Whether it’s limiting the amount of youth that drop out of sport during the transition after secondary school, supporting scholarships for high school, college and university students and promoting active athletics for the young at heart, ACF supports activity for all ages.

Supporting Excellence

At all levels, our athletes proudly compete and represent Canada, but they don’t get there alone – it takes an entire community. From site visits to ensure their safety, to proper nutrition and training along the way, all of the secondary support required to keep our National Team Athletes healthy, safe, and competitive adds up quickly!

One of our goals is to support the development of an integrated performance pathway which will enable sustainable success at the Olympic / Paralympic Games and World Championships, with a focus on national team athletes.
