Changes announced for 2017 Hershey Canadian Indoor Championships

In response to the post event survey of the 2016 edition of the Hershey Canadian Indoor Championships, Athletics Canada has made a few adjustments to the format and schedule of the 2017 event taking place February 18-19 in Montreal.

The Open portion of the event for senior athletes has been eliminated, and will instead be replaced by the Grand Prix d’Athlétisme de Montréal on the evening of Saturday February 18. The Grand Prix is slated to feature 10 invitational events with Canadian and international elite athletes, rounded out with national development events to create an evening of high performance athletics. Prize money, travel stipend and accommodations are in place for the Grand Prix d’Athlétisme de Montréal. More information on this coming very soon.

The 2017 Hershey Canadian Youth and Junior Championships will be held over two days instead of three, helping affordability for clubs, coaches and parents. Elimination of the Open events provides ample room in the schedule to host the Youth and Junior Championships over two days, instead of three.

Athlete / coach registration, and the technical package for the Youth and Junior Championships will be available next week.
