The latter aims to bring together men and women runners from across Canada to have fun, promote their training group or Club, and compete for national bragging rights. We therefore invite you to form your team and sign up. Awards will include cash prizes for the national winners, team prizes and finishers’ medals.
Team Regulations
When and How? Teams can complete their 5K road race anytime between the morning of August 28th and 6pm September 10th, which is also the deadline for final results to be submitted.
We will create a club entry on Strava named- Canadian Championship 5K Team Event, where all teams can upload their data. All team members will need to run the same course on the same day. Evidence is to be provided via Strava. A runner that has qualified and is entered in the Elite virtual race cannot be on a team, nor a foreign runner. A team may have more than 4 runners but the team score will only be attributed to the 4 you register as the official team racers.
Team registration fee is $100 per team of four if you register prior to June 30th (*$120 afterwards or $30 per runner). Anyone can enter a team and members must be registered together.
Titles
The top 3 M&W teams in Canada and the top M&W teams in each province. If your province registers more than 8 teams per category, we will add a 2nd place silver medal and if more than twelve teams, then 3rd place bronze medals. The more the merrier. The best two prizes will be the draw prizes to encourage participation.
Individual Titles:
Masters categories: Medals will be awarded in all of the masters categories (35 plus). The Masters’ competition will only include those runners who are members of a team.
Senior (elite) titles: Registration details will be announced separately for runners who qualify and wish to register for the elite race. (Women under 18:30 minutes, Men under 15:30 minutes). Minimum cash prizes will also be announced shortly with the actual final disbursements to increase based on overall team participation.
Wheelchair: Categories and prizes for wheelchair racing will be available. Wheelchair racers may be part of a team of runners, but not as one of the four official team members nor as a pacer. Standards for the wheelchair elites will follow.
