Championships Awards
Individual Championships – U18, U20 and Open (Men and Women)
- Championship medals will be awarded to the first three eligible finishers in each division. Only athletes who are Canadian Citizens who are Athletics Canada Associates and, in the case of athletes who have dual Citizenship with another country, have not competed for the National Championships of that country during the current competitive season are eligible to win individual Canadian Championship medals, individual awards, or individual financial recognition.
Canadian Team Championships – Club and Branch
Canadian Championship competitions shall be held for Club and Branch in the U18, U20, and Open categories. Championship medals will be awarded to members of the top 3 teams.
There is no limit to the team size for Club Championships: clubs may enter an unlimited number of athletes with the top four (4) athletes scoring (and all other finishers acting as displacers) for all divisions. The team size for Branch Team Championships shall be up to six (6) athletes with the top four (4) athletes scoring for all divisions.
Scoring members of Club and Branch teams can include: Canadian citizens, Canadian permanent residents, non-Canadian residents (claiming refugee status), foreign athletes, and athletes that have been members of the Athletics Canada Branch in which the club is registered for at least six months prior to the Championships.
Team scores will be tabulated based on overall placing in the official results. For the avoidance of doubt, the final scoring place of a team’s runner shall be determined by including all runners in the race, including those competing unattached or representing an incomplete team. Ties will be decided in favor of the team whose last scoring member finishes nearer to the first-place position.
- Club Championship – Clubs are NOT required to declare the composition of their team(s) in advance of the competition at the time of registration. All competitors on a Club team must be bona fide paid members of the same club.
- Branch Championship – Branches MUST declare the composition of their team(s) in advance of the competition at the time of registration. All competitors on a Branch team must be bona fide paid members of the same Branch.
Please send your declarations to Maxim Chiasson at maxim.chiasson@athletics.ca by 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday, November 23rd.
Club Teams must be declared by each Club before the deadline of 7:00 pm ET, on Thursday, November 24, 2022. Each Club recognized by Athletics Canada may declare one Team per 10-year Team Age Category. A separate Declaration must be done for each Team.
