Athletics Canada is pleased to announce the return of the Canadian Indoor Track & Field Championships March 18-19, 2023 in Saint John, New Brunswick. Hosted in coordination with the Saint John Reds Track and Field Club, the Championship will take place at Irving Oil Field House.

The Canadian Indoor Track & Field Championship will take place at Irving Oil Field House, located in Saint John, NB from March 18-19, 2023. The primary event entrance to Irving Oil Field House can be found at 129 McAllister Dr, Saint John, NB E2J 2S7.

Tickets for the 2023 Canadian Indoor Track & Field Championships will be on sale on both days of competition. The Ticket booth will be located in the lobby of Irving Oil Field House (see Site map above for reference).

Training Sessions, Bib pick-up & Check-in times
Training session times
Athletes and coaches may access the facility for a training session at the following times:
- Thursday — 5 pm – 7 pm
- *Per request – please contact Oyinko Akinola if interested.
- Friday — 1 pm – 7 pm
- Saturday — End of Competition – 8 pm
Bib pick-up
Athletes and coaches can pick up their competition bibs and coach accreditation pass in the Multi-Purpose room 1 upon entering the entrance of Irving Oil Field House (see Site map above for reference).
- Friday — 1 pm – 7 pm
- Saturday — 8 am – 5 pm
- Sunday — 8 am – 1 pm
Officials’ check-in time

Technical Information
There will be no technical meeting. All information will be available online. For further details, please visit the Athletics Canada Technical Rulebook. Technical questions should be submitted to maxim.chiasson@athletics.ca, no later than March 15th, 2023. The Athletics Canada Technical Rules can be found HERE.
- Implements will be made available by the organizing committee. Personal implements will also be allowed, provided they are checked-in three hours prior to the event, pass inspection, and are made available to all other competitors until the end of the event. Personal Implements for morning sessions must be checked in the night before.

- Each athlete will receive two competition bibs; one with their name and one with a number. All athletes must wear the name bib on their chest, and the number bib on their back, except in jumping events where only the name bib may be worn either on the chest or back. Bib numbers will be distributed during the registration process. Hip numbers will be provided in the Call Room.
- The Call Room site will act as a technical information center (TIC)
- Questions that arise throughout the Championships will be answered at the TIC.
- All protests must be filed at the TIC.
- Results and start lists will be available online to minimize paper. A hard copy of the results will be posted. Additional paper copies will be made available if necessary.
- Official results will be available on the Championships website.
Anti Doping
Doping control procedures may be in place according to AC/CCES policies.
Warm-up
Athletes will enter the facility through the main entrance. Competing athletes will have their uniform, spikes, and equipment checked again at the Call Room.
Athletes can warm up on the warm-up field located beside the indoor track. Athletes may also warm-up outside of the facility but must remember to bring their credential if exiting the facility. Note that only accredited and masters coaches will be allowed in the warm-up areas.
Call Room
All athletes must present themselves to the first call room according to the scheduled check-in times as noted below. Athletes who fail to appear on time in the Call Room without a valid reason (i.e., medical certificate) may be excluded from participating in this and all further events in the Championships, including relays.
The Call Room is a secure area. Coaches are not allowed to enter the Call Room.
Athletes’ Call Room reporting times will be established based on numbers and any covid protocols in place at the time of the competition. A schedule will be posted at the Call Room entrance. All times are prior to the scheduled start time of the event (and not the heat number):
Call Room officials will check the following in accordance with AC rules:
- Bib numbers
- Shoes and spikes
- In the interest of time, we recommend open or cinch bags or bags with limited pockets/zippers. Bags will be inspected to ensure that they do not contain any of the prohibited items listed below.
Spike Length
The maximum spike length allowed on the track and in the field is 7mm. The only exceptions are for high jump and javelin, where the maximum length is 9mm.
Items that will NOT be permitted beyond the Call Room
- Electronic devices
- Cell phones, video/audio players, cameras, radio transmitters, etc.
- Medications (unless accompanied by a doctor’s note and TUE)

Relay Teams - Declaration Form
Relay forms must be completed and submitted to the TIC by 11AM on the day of the relay.
Relay teams MUST report to the CALL ROOM as a team! All members of the relay team need to wear the same uniform top.
- Saturday – 4x200m by 11AM on March 18th
- Sunday – 4×400 by 11AM on March 19th

Registration
Registration is now open for the 2023 Canadian Indoor Track & Field Championships.
- The deadline for athletes to register for the Canadian Indoor Track & Field Championships is March 7th at 23:59 p.m. (Eastern Time).
- Following the first deadline, there is a late entry window. Late entry deadline is March 12th at 23:59 p.m. (Eastern Time).

Coach Passes
- Coaching Passes are designed to allow an athlete’s coach access to specified areas that may include: the stadium, warm-up area and/or practice track for the purpose of preparing for competition and access to seating in the competition venue in order to support your athlete.
- Credentials are non-transferrable, and each coach will only be allowed to receive a maximum of one credential per category.
- Coaching passes demonstrate that the individual has completed the required training, certification, screening, and safe sport education.
- Earn a personal development point with coaching pass when attending the championships.
Requirements:
- Club coach certified status (or Performance Coach trained, or Performance Coach certified) status.
- Current (2022) member of an Athletics Canada member branch and provide a valid NCCP # to receive accreditation.
- Non-Canadian coaches need to contact Andrew Cameron to register. Non-Canadian coaches must be registered with their respective national governing body
Please confirm that you meet the requirements for a coaching pass. An inaccurate declaration will result in no coaching pass being delivered
Accommodation Information
Athletics Canada is pleased to announce our partnership with HTG Sports as our exclusive travel partner for the Bell Canadian Track & Field Championships. The success of our event relies on the combination of dedicated volunteers and established partnerships with our sponsors. Those clubs/athletes requiring hotel accommodations are asked to book only through HTG Sports. HTG Sports has secured blocks at participating host hotels so be sure to contact them early to book your rooms. We thank you in advance for your support.
**Please note: The deadline to set aside a group room block is March 6th. If you have any questions and/or would like to hold rooms aside for your group, please contact Cathy Nolan.
Entry Standard, Seeding Requirements & Eligibility
There are no entry standards for the Canadian Indoor Track & Field Championships. All competitive branch member athletes (u16, U18, U20) are eligible to compete.
The following are the seeding requirements: November 2021 through to March 12, 2023, including outdoor performance. Eligible seeds are automatically synchronized from the Athletics Canada rankings.
Athletes may compete a maximum of one age category up at Athletics Canada National Championships except for Under-16 Championships. For example, Under-18 aged athletes may move up and compete in National Under-20 Championships and Under-20 aged athletes may move up and compete in the Open/Senior National Championships.
Athlete performances will be pulled directly from the Athletics Canada Rankings system. Only performances listed in the Athletics Canada Rankings system will be eligible for entry into the Championships. If you have any questions regarding the ranking system, please contact results@athletics.ca.
