Andrea Stephen

Sport Medicine (SM) Lead, East Hub
  • Provides para-medical/medical services and outreach to all carded and targeted athletes out of the East Hub
  • Leads and/or coordinates integrated health testing and communicates medical results to appropriate personnel
  • Works with other IST members to monitor athlete health, including injury prevention strategies and injury management plans
  • Provides recommendations regarding medical cards, injury classification and other medical topics as required
  • Helps to coordinate and integrate all para-medical/medical information into Athletics Canada's national database

Carla Nicholls

Olympic Development Lead

Dale LeBlans

Sport Science (SS) Lead, East Hub
  • Leads the Sport Science team to provide coaches with support in planning, training, recovery and monitoring to all carded and targeted athletes out of the East Hub
  • Oversees and implements performance testing for to all carded and targeted athletes
  • Provides recommendations regarding medical cards, injury classification and other medical topics as required
  • Works closely with the IST Lead to develop innovative research plans and projects in the area of Sport Science
  • Helps to coordinate and integrate all sport science related information into Athletics Canada's national database

Dave Scott Thomas

  • Oversees training plans for carded athletes, in addition to the final phase of their development

Dr. Paddy McCluskey

Sport Medicine (SM) Lead, West Hub
  • Provides para-medical/medical services and outreach to all carded and targeted athletes out of the West Hub
  • Leads and/or coordinates integrated health testing and communicates medical results to appropriate personnel

Dr. Trent Stellingwerff

National Integrated Support Team (IST) Lead
  • Oversees Athletics Canada’s strategy of SSSM services for National Team events, in addition to the East and West Hub
  • Provides leadership in creating a national network of SSSM practitioners
  • Manages the IST budget
  • Develops national standardized medical and performance screening processes/approaches
  • Advises the Chief Technical Officer, Head Coach and Athletics Canada’s senior leadership team with respect to Sport Science, Sport Medicine, medical carding and anti-doping rules/regulations
  • Acts as the West Hub’s Sport Science (SS) Lead

Geoff Harris

NextGen Endurance Coach
  • Responsible for the delivery of Athletics Canada’s NextGen Institute Endurance Program
  • Leads the NextGen Institute Endurance Program within Athletics Canada’s integrated Western High Performance Hub in Victoria
  • Identifies Canadian endurance athletes who have the potential to be our next generation of podium performers in 2020 and beyond
  • In collaboration with Athletics Canada’s NextGen Olympic Lead and its Middle Distance/Endurance Leads, provides opportunities for athletes and their coaches to ensure their daily training environments are conducive for development to high performance through training camps, international competition opportunities, introduction to Sport Science/Sport Medicine, in addition to professional development opportunities for coaches
