Canadian Track and Field Championships and Selection Trials for the 2016 Summer Olympic and Paralympic Games

WHAT

The Road to Rio runs through Edmonton from July 7-10 at Foote Field. Canada’s best track and field athletes will try to punch their tickets to the 2016 Summer Games in Rio de Janeiro from Aug. 5-21, or the Paralympics, which will be held in the Brazilian city Sept. 7-18.

  • Derek Drouin, gold medal, high jump, 2015 World Championships
  • Guillaume Ouellet, gold medal, 1,500 metres. 2015 Para Pan Am Games
  • Melissa Bishop, silver medal, 800 metres, 2015 IAAF World Championships
  • Damian Warner, silver medal, decathlon, 2015 World Championships

WHY

A core group of Canada’s world-class track and field team will be available for one-on-one interviews at this media event on the eve of the Trials, which will showcase the young, talented team that won a Canadian record of eight medals at the 2015 IAAF World Championships in Athletics in Beijing.
