Levins, Legault Win Canadian Half Marathon Titles
A year after scorching temperatures slowed the field at the Canadian Half Marathon Championships last year, the 2023 edition saw more comfortable conditions, ripe for fast times.
Cam Levins won the men’s title, clocking in at 1:01.42, likely booking his spot at the World Half Marathon Championships. Phil Parrot-Migas (01:06:42) and Justin Kent (01:06:57) battled it out behind him to claim their spots on the men’s podium.
Elissa Legault continued her strong road season with the women’s title, earning first place with a time of 01:12:15.0 to outlast Kinsey Middleton (01:13:38) and Samantha Jory (01:15:03).
The Canadian Half Marathon Championships were held as part of Manitoba Marathon weekend – a Father’s Day tradition in the Manitoba capital.

Mitton Reigns Over Oslo Diamond League
Sarah Mitton won the women's shot put event at Thursday's Oslo Diamond League event, throwing for 19.54 metres on her first attempt, and having it secure her first Diamond League win.
"I came with a big energy and it worked," Mitton said. 'I did not really hit my first throw, I know it is a stepping stone to bigger throws I have in me.
On the track, Andre De Grasse ran a season-best time of 20.33 seconds in the 200 metres, to take 5th place.
"To get a season´s best after injury means I am moving in the right direction," De Grasse said. "That's all I can do and get stronger every meet. I am healthy again so I can keep improving."

Woodfine and Mawhinney Prevail at the Toronto 10K
A leisurely run along the Toronto waterfront is a great way to spend a Saturday in mid-June. The Toronto 10K, part of the Athletics Canada Road Race Label, is not that. There is nothing leisurely about the pace set by this year’s winners, Tristan Woodfine and Erin Mawhinney.
Woodfine finished first on the men’s side with a time of 29:12, followed by Dylan Alick (29:49) and Rob Kanko (30:02).
Mawhinney paced the women’s race in 33:34, with Salome Nyirarukundo (34:58) and Rachel Hannah rounding out the podium (35:09).
