Price to Play
Track and field is arguably one of the most affordable sports to participate in, unfortunately, that is not always the case for people with disabilities as factors such as financial barriers, the high cost of specialized equipment can make it more difficult for Para Athletes to get started and stay in the sport. To create a more welcoming space for athletes with a disability consider a scaled fee structure, free access to try-it sessions, hosting practices near public transportation and connecting with other athletes who might have used equipment to pass on.
Budgets are tight and there isn't always money to go around for all programs. Short on funds for Para Athletics? Keep an eye out for Grants and seek out to partner with other PTSOs, DSO's and Clubs.
