Introduction to physical impairments: Short Stature
Sport Classes F 40-41 – Athletes with a physical impairment – Short stature
There are two classes depending on the body height of the athlete and the proportionality of the upper limbs.
- Class F40: shorter height and limb length impairment
- Class F41: taller height and limb length impairment
There currently aren’t any track events included in the Paralympic program for short stature athletes. Domestic events may still include these events at their meets but the athlete’s results would not count toward World Para Athletics ranking.
Rules & Regulations
The Paralympic program for short stature athletes includes shot put and discus throws. There are no rule modifications or para considerations for these events for F40 and F41 athletes. Officials would refer to the world athletics rules for these events.
